JMDesigns: Fashion |
This section of JohnMarineDesigns is devoted to my fashion interests.

In no way do I consider myself adept at fashion. My tastes in fashion vary much differently from others. I am not going to be your stylist that puts you over the top. However, I do make an effort to follow fashion in some capacity.
My Fashion Credentials and Basic Thoughts
My foray into fashion can be traced back to me saving sale papers from department stores. It was my only real feed to following fashion. The different clothing features were seen by me as I used a combination of what people were wearing out and about and what the sale papers had on the fashion front. As I became more experienced with fashion, I started looking at various websites and pictures regarding fashion. I feel fashion is more accessible to females than us males. So I concentrated my fashion interests on feminine style. There are those, though, who believe in fashion freedom- meaning males should be able to wear feminine clothes if they like. If females are wearing masculine clothing and be able to get away with it, why not males with feminine fashion?
I did join an invitation-only online fashion community called the Fashion Spot. I was pretty much a regular in the chats, but I admit that I lacked the polish to really be educated on fashion. So I moved on from tFS and took my fashion commentary to my fashion blog, StyleSpace, by John B. Marine. At least I know I am responsible for myself instead of being constantly watched on for certain fashion opinions others either agree or disagree with.
In recent times, I have entertained the idea of fashion design, but as you know, I am not formally trained. Nor am I "stylish." So a lot of my fashion design ideas mostly are relegated to the likes of 2D digital art and some 3D work (such as Second Life avatars).
Allow me to share with you some of my work, especially using the popular Polyvore:

Important Note Regarding Polyvore...
As Polyvore was bought by SSENSE, all of my Polyvore material has since been removed from this page. Instead, I will find other things to feature fashion-wise here. I apologize for the inconvenience.
What I Hope to Accomplish...
So is there anything I may be wanting to accomplish in doing these fashion-related posts? In a way, I sort of hope I may be able to provide some interesting fashion ideas of mine for you to wear. I am not seeking to become part of top-level fashion shows. I am mostly doing this for fun and mostly to try to profit (more than just financially).
In a way, I am kind of hoping I may be able to collaborate with others. I have NO formal fashion training of any kind. So don't expect me to do all the sewing and stuff to legitimately make my own fashions.
